You may say I'm a dreamer

"You could say that I am a dreamer
But I am not the only one
I hope one day you will join us
And the world will be as one."

During the 2022 European Swimming Championships at the Foro Italico, Giorgio Minisini and Arianna Sacripante float in the water to the notes of John Lennon's 'Imagine', leaving an indelible image and a powerful message of love. He, a two-time world champion and four-time European champion, six gold medals in two months, she, an artistic swimmer with Down syndrome, gold medallist at the Trisome Games in 2016.

First the illusion of being able to overturn the rules, then the clash with the reality of a world unfavourable to change, and finally an opportunity that allows a dream to become reality and change paradigms thanks to love.

Giorgio and Arianna met in 2018 thanks to "Progetto Filippide" an Association that has been training and preparing people with disabilities for sports competitions since 2016. Thanks to the support of the Italian Swimming Federation, the two champions at the European Championships in Rome were able to perform in an international competition.

With 'Imagine' Giorgio and Arianna showed the world the strength of unity, inclusiveness and equality. Sabrina Bernabei, Arianna's coach, says: "It can be done: there is a need to look beyond, even if 'beyond' is unfortunately still a place for few". Toswim, like Sabrina, Giorgio and Arianna, imagines a world in which sport, especially swimming, can become a place for everyone.

Part of our essence lies precisely in this: being able to make our small contribution so that imagination can finally take on the flavour of reality.
